On May 31st, OHPERA and the EIC Green H2 Portfolio hosted the fourth Young Scientists Meeting – Focus Group #3, showcasing their commitment to innovation. Sixteen researchers and two expert stakeholders explored integrating modeling and AI tools in materials design for green hydrogen technologies. Francesco Matteucci, Programme Manager at EIC, highlighted the European Commission’s advanced materials communication, underscoring their role in the energy transition. He discussed strategic investments, the Advanced Materials Academy creation, and potential Horizon Europe partnerships. Gian Marco Rignanese from MATGENIX detailed combining modeling and machine learning for materials informatics, accelerating solar absorbers and electrocatalysts innovation. Alberto Bucci of JOLT focused on AI-driven high-throughput screening for catalyst development, crucial for efficient green hydrogen production. The event emphasised collaboration and innovation within the Green H2 Portfolio. Plans for more workshops and focus groups post-September 2024 aim to align with Portfolio events like Vertical Webinars, broadening participation and fostering synergy among junior researchers and participants.
